So I took the KS4 apart to clean it up a bit and all is dandy! This thing is pretty damn cool and addresses a lot of the short comings of the K-Station... an internal power supply being a biggie for me. Why does it seem like these things just came and went without any noise?

When I used my sampler live (eps16+) I found it was best to load sounds before the show, so that made me limited to the 16mb limit. if used wisely that was ok.
otherwise i found that either you forget and try to load as the song starts or you wait for loading (from floppies in this case).
Gotta give Novation props for keeping these synths compatible with one another. It's made my life easier that's for certain. Now do I sell my K-Station and Xiosynths? Bloody hell....

So... I started with the A-Station... swapped that for a K-Station and later added a Xiosynth. I like the sound coming out of these but for live use I'm needing another multitimbral synth to ride along the Ion's side. Rather than bring another keyboard along I've been looking at the Novation KS4 and the rack version of it. Anyone use these? I've read that there were knob issues with these synths. I've also read that about the K-Station but haven't had any issues. I'm assuming the build quality between the two are similar but that's just an assumption. The KS4 can also read all my K-Station patches which is a plus....

actually 3U isnt refering to modular stuff, its a standard rack measurement for ANY piece of gear that mounts in a standard 19" rack.
for instance a MOTU 828mkii would be 1U high, and a moog voyager RME would be 5U high.
